The Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute Gala for the fashion exhibition "Charles James: Beyond Fashion" was beyond fashion indeed. Entering the Great Hall of the Met Museum last night, the first look that caught the eye was the towering Charles James mannequin made entirely from roses. So, who is Charles James? James, who is often called "America's first couturier," was at his height from the 1930s to the 1950s, when he revolutionized fashion from the inside out. He's the most elegant designer you've never heard of.
The star's worked the red carpet, and our eyes were all over the fine jewelry. Geneva Seal is known in Chicago for our classic jewelry, and this years Met Gala was dripping with class. We picked our favorite looks, accessory wise, and hope to see more timeless high fashion.
Combining a sense of drama with a romantic edge, Giovanna Battaglia's floral look on the red carpet was a welcome reminder of spring. Giovanna is a contributor fashion editor for W magazine and senior editor for Vogue Japan. With her gorgeous butterfly necklace and matching earrings, she floated her way to the top of our list.
Last, but not least, Princess RiRi and Victoria Beckham worked the red carpet dripping in Jacob & Co. diamonds. Geneva Seal is an authorized dealer for Jacob & Co.
