Ed Sheeran Showed off Geneva Seals Exclusive Timepiece Brand, Richard Mille, at Last Nights Grammys

Ed Sheeran is an interesting young man. The British singer-songwriter’s last album, X, sold millions of copies in an age when you only need to sell 500,000 to have a number one record. And at the age of 24, when most pop stars are trashing hotel rooms, he’s instead amassed a small but tasteful collection of timepieces. Even the puppet in his “Sing” video is wearing what looks like a Patek Phillipe.

According to an interview with British GQ, Sheeran started collecting haute horology when he was gifted with a Nautilus Annual Calendar for playing a Bar Mitzvah in Russia. His watch wardrobe has grown to include a Hublot Big Bang and an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore. But it’s his Richard Mille RM 030 Americas Limited Edition that seems to be receiving most of his wrist time lately: He’s been spotted wearing it to the Grammys, on tour in Shanghai and Dubai and at the Brit Awards last month, where he won Album of the Year.

RM 030 Americas Limited Edition timepiece

RM 030 Americas Limited Edition timepiece

We like the fact that Sheeran actually wears his watches on a daily basis. Style-wise, the RM 030 Americas Limited Edition is perfect for a performer. The black case is crafted from carbon nanotubes, which makes it quite light for its size and the strap is simple black rubber, both touches that would also make it comfortable to wear onstage. It also has orange accents on the flange, hands and crown guard to complement Sheeran’s ginger locks.

The watch’s caliber RMAR1’s self-winding system is also intriguing: inspired by automotive mechanics, Richard Mille developed a unique declutchable rotor and a torque limiting crown to prevent over winding by being able to sense when the spring is fully wound.

Sheeran is also extremely likeable (he’s BFFs with both Taylor Swift and her ex John Mayer) so haters can’t hate when they find out that the RM 030 Americas Limited Edition is no longer available (he bought it in 2013 and only 30 pieces were produced).  The good news is that the Richard Mille RM 030 Le Mans Classic is pretty close in looks, but with a white ceramic case and green accents instead of black and orange.

Chicago's Most Fashionable Jeweler Talks Style

"Style is not about designers. It's about comfortable, functional clothes I can spend all day in at work, followed by an event for several hours and still feel like myself," says the Geneva Seal jeweler.
"If it feels like, 'I can't wait to take this off,' then it's not my type of outfit."

Leonard, who's behind the Oak Street boutique Geneva Seal Fine Jewelry & Timepieces is originally from Moscow, and saw his father as an icon growing up.

Geneva Seal is known in Chicago for custom engagement rings, a selection of timepieces brands, such as: Richard Mille, Hublot, Bovet, Roger Dubuis, Bell & Ross, Blancpain, Breitling, Breitling for Bentley, Devon, Franck Muller, HYT, Omega, Tag Heuer, Ulysse Nardin, Urwerk, preowned timepieces and more.

Leonard believes taking time to look your best is a part of respecting your clients, the people who enter the Geneva Seal home. His father played a major role in his respect of style. He says:

"He was always a sharp dresser. What made him sharp is that he took care of himself, he was well groomed, used the right amount of cologne, wore crisp, ironed shirts, and most importantly he always had his shoes clean and shined.
He taught me that taking pride in my appearance shows respect for the people I come in contact with, and I still polish my own shoes."

Given his profession, it's no surprise that Leonard is a fan of unique accessories like antique cuff links, David Oscarson pens and Gold & Wood sunglasses.

"I truly believe my outfit is made by accessories," he says.
"When it comes to clothing, we are all influenced by fashion ads and trends to a certain degree, but no matter what brand or designers one prefers, small details make up one's personal style.
You can put together a killer look from Target or H&M if you have a sense of your own identity and style."

Hublot & Geneva Seal Celebrate Hebru Brantley -- Chicago Picasso

Iconic watch giant, Hublot, celebrated the art world's next superstar, Chicagoan Hebru Brantley last night at an exclusive event. In partnership with fine watch retailer Geneva Seal Lake Forest Sportscars, guests shared a rare inside look at the studio and creative process of Hebru, also known as -- Chicago Picasso.

Inspired by his 1980’s Chicago upbringing, Hebru’s work touches on tough subjects in a way that is easily digestible to the viewer – by telling his stories through youthful characters and their adventures.

As Hebru explained to fellow Chicago artist and Grammy-winning rapper Wasalu Jaco -- better known as Lupe Fiasco -- during his Michigan Avenue interview:

When I create, a lot of times I don’t see kids. I really don’t.

I just see them as people.

There’s a sense of innocence there, but there’s also a sense of all the other things we go through.

What a kid might go through on a playground in certain ways might parallel what a guy goes through in a boardroom in a job day to day.

hublot-watches-hebru-brantley-chicago

Focusing on one character, Flyboy, who's pretty much his marquee, almost his brand, almost his Nike swoosh, or as Hebru said:

"My Mickey Mouse."

Flyboy was created because it's rare to see a popular character within any medium that is African-American, Latino, even Asian. Hebru wanted to create that, in a space of high art and be able to have some historical context to that character.

He took from the Tuskegee Airmen, who were fighter pilots in World War II. They flew successful missions and they never lost a person.

But at that time black folks were treated far less than equal. For him, it was important to have that historical context to a character, not to just have one for the sake of needing one or wanting one.

hublot-watches-hebru-brantley-chicago

The event also served as an opportunity for guests to see the Ferrari California T in iconic red – an exemplar of Italian engineering.

Hublot, the exclusive 360° partner of Ferrari serves as both the " Official Watch" and "Official Timekeeper” of Scuderia Ferrari and the Ferrari brand globally.

hublot-watches-hebru-brantley-chicago

Hublot, a brand at the forefront of art and design, has partnered with a range of world-renowned artists, architects, and innovators including Oscar Niemeyer, Mr. Brainwash, Maestro Carlos Cruz-Diez, Maxime Büchi, Romero Britto, and Lang Lang and continues to celebrate its Art of Fusion by merging the multi-dimensional worlds of watchmaking and art.

It was an honor for Geneva Seal Fine Jewelry & Timepieces to partner with Hublot, Lake Forest Sportscars and for a truly unforgettable night.

Roger Dubuis Velvet Collection at Geneva Seal Fine Jewelry & Timepieces

Geneva Seal Fine Jewelry & Timepieces, a Chicago watch and engagement ring boutique houses the sexiest watch brand in the world; Roger Dubuis. The Roger Dubuis Velvet Collection timepieces are Haute Horlogerie divas that draw all eyes with their exceptional charisma.

roger-dubuis-velvet-watch

With their graphic split-level dials creating a depth effect, numerals and appliques converging towards the centre, decorated lugs, trompe l’oeil style case designs midway between a circle and a tonneau or barrel shape, they offer an entertaining new take on the brand identity codes, imbued with a blend of virtuosity and poetry.

It captures gazes and catches the light. This exquisitely feminine and ultra-glamorous model vamps the watch-making scene with a blend of elegance and audacity.

Its bezel and lugs sparkle with the radiance of 100 diamonds totaling approximately 1.77 carats. This model was created using the RD821 movement, stamped with the prestigious Hallmark of Geneva.

With a New Bond Film Must Come a New Bond Watch

With a new Bond film must come a new Bond watch. Omega has now released a James Bond limited edition version of the Seamaster 300m Co-Axial and Geneva Seal Fine Jewelry & Timepieces in Chicago is proud to house the rare timepiece.

Spectre, 2015: Seamaster 300 Limited Edition.

The first thing to note is that there are no “007” additions to the watch’s dial at all. This is not a Bond watch in the vein of all other Bond watches; this is a watch that James Bond will be wearing, rather than a commemorative piece – as emphasized by the recently released pictures of Daniel Craig touring the Omega factory wearing this watch.

The only dial changes to the watch are that the 12 o’clock hour index has been replaced with a larger “Omega Seamaster” logo, and the second hand has been given a “lollipop” circle at its tip rather than the standard arrow. And the bezel is now a bi-directional rotating bezel with numerals from 0-11, giving the watch a second timezone function of sorts. They are the kind of discreet changes that you’d have to be an actual spy to notice.

Hublot Big Bang Pop Art Collection

"A timepiece that brings the avant-garde spirit of the Pop Art movement to life"

THE ART OF FUSION GETS A SPLASH OF COLOR WITH THE BIG BANG POP ART

Bright, bold and strikingly colorful. Inspired by the Pop Art movement of the 1950 and to a greater extent the 60s, the Big Bang Pop Art collection is a horological canvas for artistic expression. A veritable fusion between the worlds of watchmaking and modern art, it is the very notion of challenging the conventional that Hublot related to in Pop Art.

Much like how Andy Warhol took American popular culture and reinterpreted them into vividly colored paintings, the Pop Art reinterprets Hublot’s signature Big Bang into the most prismatic ladies’ line to date; watches that are as much mechanical marvels as they are pieces of wearable art.

The Big Bang Pop Art come in either steel or, something of a rarity for Hublot, yellow gold cases that capture the retro spirit of the Pop Art movement. Accentuating the playful colors of the dial, the bezels are skillfully set with baguette cut precious and semi-precious stones, including blue topaz, purple amethyst, pink sapphire and green tsavorite.

CAPTURING THE STROKE OF A PAINTBRUSH

Against a rich blue background, the chronograph registers and indexes are truly one-of-a-kind, painted in two contrasting colors. Around the register and markers one is given the impression of paintbrush strokes with paint matching the chronograph registers. The date wheel blends in perfectly with its matching blue tone.

The strap is just as brightly colorful as the rest of the watch, done in alligator leather with a contrasting colored rubber backing for added comfort, flexibility and durability.

Hublot continues to explore the realm of Pop Art and modern art in general, as can be witnessed from the collaboration with Brazilian artist Romero Britto’s Pop Art-inspired football design for the for FIFA 2014 World Cup, as well as promoting young emerging modern artists such as Gao Ludi in China and Hebru Brantley in the USA.

Bovet Watches | Récital 11 "Miss Alexandra"

bovet-watches-chicago

Geneva Seal Fine Jewelry & Timepieces, a Chicago watch and engagement ring boutique is the only Authorized Dealer for Bovet watches in Illinois. The Bovet Récital 11 “Miss Alexandra” features the same precision phase of the moon and characteristic hands of the Récital 9 Tourbillon. The hour and minute hands are offset at 6 o’clock.

Their atypical silhouettes, forming a heart every hour, stand out clearly against the guilloché surface of the finely-worked mother-of-pearl dial crafted by artisans of the Dimier 1738 Dial Manufacture.

With its assurance of proven reliability and chronometric precision, the self-winding movement of this new timepiece guarantees a power-reserve of 72 hours, or three days. A comfortable margin, since it allows the timepiece to be taken off for an entire weekend and put back on without the need for any adjustments.

bovet-watches-chicago

The precision moon phase module was entirely developed and manufactured by artisans of DIMIER 1738. More complex than a traditional indicator, this precision complication requires only a single one-day correction every 122 years. Its display method was also revised. Rather than showing two moons on a moving disc, here the moon is rigidly attached to the dial. The system features a disc engraved according to an exact cartography of the lunar surface.

Hollow parts have been filled with luminous material. As a result, the moon appears exactly as it can be observed in the sky and therefore seems to directly reflect the sun’s light. The sky through which the earth’s satellite moves has been chased and black treated.

bovet-watches-chicago

The Manufacture’s engravers then reworked this sky so that bright points appeared, reminiscent of stars. Two circular pallets moving above this assembly are decorated with the same motif as the sky. Reading the phase of the moon is therefore both intuitive and realistic.

“This project came into being because of our revolutionary design and desire to strive for something different,” said Scott Devon, founder and creative director of Devon Works.

Different and powerful is exactly what Devon achieved in the eight-month time frame the brand was allotted to bring the Star Wars | Devon watch to fruition.

“We knew immediately that we had to incorporate Darth Vader into the design. He is not just one of the most iconic Star Wars characters, but he is also represents an impressive display of man interfacing with machine” says Devon, adding that he worked with his in-house designer, Marko Petrovic to develop the watch. “Marko had already seen the Star Wars movies a hundred times before I even brought the concept of the watch to him. He had the design done within in a week.”

“Being a huge fan of Star Wars, it was not so hard for me to put my mind into it and come up with a watch that captures the movies’ essence,” says Petrovic. “It was a real treat to watch all the episodes again, but his time from a different perspective. Blending of the emblems of Star Wars with Devon to create an iconic watch just flowed naturally.”

Hublot Big Bang Broderie Watch | Chicago

Geneva Seal Fine Jewelry & Timepieces in Chicago is proud to house The Hublot Big Bang Broderie watch is irresistible fine embroidery – the most feminine of materials – worn directly against the skin it is synonymous with intimacy… Romantic and sexy, embroidery is the stuff of fantasies.

As delicate as it is frivolous, it embodies a savoir-faire which masters the subtle art of discreet revelation. Hublot continues to revisit Arts and Crafts in its own distinctive way, here paying homage to the memory of our grandmothers’ needlework with this fine St. Gallen embroidery – an ancestral art which is 100% Swiss Made – created by Bischoff, the leading Maison Suisse.

hublot-big-bang-broderie

The creative teams from both companies came  together to develop an exclusive pattern in order to create a fusion with the Big Bang’s iconic design. It shows a rebellious spirit, with its skull pattern on a dial studded with 11 diamonds, and soft arabesques on the bezel and strap – a technical feat which took several months of Research & Development.

After the embroidered elements produced in St. Gallen were delivered to Hublot in the canton of Vaud, part of the solution was found and developed in the Jura: in a process akin to the manufacture of high-tech carbon fibre components, the elements embroidered on tulle are encased and moulded – like a stack of sheets – in carbon fibre to amplify the texture. The process is new and exclusive.

The components are then assembled in the Hublot manufacture in Nyon, the ladies’ timepiece being completed for connoisseurs with an HUB1110 automatic mechanical movement featuring 63 components and 21 jewels. 42-hour power reserve. The Big Bang Broderie, the ultrafeminine watch now featuring the most delicate details, is initially available in 3 versions: gold, silver or All Black, studded.

Breitling Jet Team Getting Ready to Wow Chicago Air & Water Show Crowds

Geneva Seal Fine Jewelry & Timepieces, a Chicago engagement ring and watch house is proud to welcome the Breitling Jet Team for their first flight at our annual Chicago Air & Water Show.

New to the air show this year,  the Breitling Jet Team came to us from France. They put their Czech-made Aero L-39c Albatros jets in shipping containers to bring them to the U.S. for their first American tour.

According to CBS Chicago, team leader Jacques Bothelin said,

“We try to choreograph the scenes in a specific European manner. It’s a little different from what you have seen with the American teams. We also use a lot of music, and try to give positive emotion to the spectators. We just want to give them a good time by the elegance (and) grace of the maneuvers,” he said.

Breitling Emergency II: The First Wristwatch Designed to Save Your Life

The world’s first wristwatch with a dual frequency locator beacon.

Geneva Seal Fine Jewelry & Timepieces in Chicago is proud to introduce the Breitling Emergency II — successor to the wildly popular Breitling Emergency, and the first-ever watch with a dual-frequency locator beacon.

The watch’s planned U.S. retail release has been stalled for nearly two years awaiting approval from the FCC - until now.

Pilots, sailors, and other adventurers who have patiently waited for the chance to purchase the Emergency II received good news on June 23rd when Breitling announced that the government red tape had finally been cut: the company received its necessary FCC waiver, and the Breitling Emergency II would finally be available at retail on July 1. Here’s what you need to know about this world’s-first timepiece:

breitling-watches-emergency-chicago

The Emergency is a high-tech gem equipped with a dual frequency transmitter compliant with the specifications of the Cospas-Sarsat international satellite alert system and serving both to issue alerts and to guide search and rescue missions.

Developed in conjunction with major scientific institutes, the Emergency is distinguished by numerous microelectronic and microtechnical innovations, including a revolutionary rechargeable battery, a miniaturized dual frequency transmitter and an unprecedented integrated antenna system – three features specifically developed for this model.

As the first ever wristworn dual frequency PLB, it establishes itself as a safety and survival instrument in all distress situations on land, at sea and in the air.

George Clooney wore an Omega Watch During His Wedding Day

Without doubt one of the appeals of a mechanical watch is the pleasure derived from the sense of wearing a piece of history on the wrist. This tangible link to the technology of a more romantic age transforms a timepiece into something more than simply a tool or a trinket.

So in some ways it is surprising that there is one relatively recent development has come to dominate the market to the virtual exclusion of its predecessor - the automatic movement, that first became commercially available in the Twenties. And while the power of all watches is stored in the spring, whether wound up by an oscillating weight or manually using finger and thumb, it seemed that in this area convenience is our most important consideration as the vast majority of all mechanical watches sold today are automatic.

That is why it is such a pleasure to come across a new manually wound piece such as the Omega De Ville Trésor Master Co-Axial - especially as when the model in question is so handsome. Handsome enough, indeed, for George Clooney to sport on his wedding day. Deliberately retro in feel, it is inspired by a 1949 piece that shared its name. The honeycomb dial, hands, hour markers and crystal are all domed to give it the feel of its forebear, though its super slim 40mm case is also completely contemporary, made possible by the Omega caliber 8511 - no rotor means less bulk. And call us old-fashioned if you like, but the pleasure of winding it up every day is all part of the pleasure. (via GQmagazine.com)

Swiss Horology vs The Apple Watch

Luxury vs Digital. Switzerland vs California.

When discussing The Apple Watch at Geneva Seal Fine Jewelry & Timepieces in Chicago, the conversation doesn't last long. After three centuries, the mechanics of Swiss watches are so advanced they don't need to bat an eye toward anyone. But here we are, discussing the so-called competition between the two watches because The Apple Watch just may change the watch game.. in a good way.

Robert Hackett, writer for Forbes, thinks The Apple Watch is a gateway drug for Swiss horology and we couldn't agree more. This isn't the first time the Swiss watch industry has been rivaled and it won't be the last. With cunning and a little bit of re-branding, they've survived upheaval before. And this time it will be even easier.

apple-watch-chicago-geneva-seal

A Swiss luxury timepiece won't tell you the weather, but they have something smart watches don't. Jean-Claude Biver, watch division president of LVMH and TAG Heuer CEO, says timelessness is essential to the appeal of timekeeping. A collector of watches himself, Biver recently bought his wife a century-old Patek Philippe that ticks like the day it was set, he says. Channeling his inner mystic, he tells Fortune: “A connected watch from Apple or any other brand will not compete with eternity.”

Might Apple erode Switzerland’s market share? Possibly—but smart money says the Apple Watch will actually grow the market. A trendy $17,000 Apple Edition may ultimately prove to be a gateway drug for, say, an elegant $170,000 Patek Philippe.

Swatch Group CEO Nick Hayek says he welcomes Silicon Valley to the scene: “We see smart watches as a big chance for the watch industry, not a threat,” he says. “Everything that makes millions of people more open to put something on their wrist will boost the opportunities to sell more watches.”

URWERK | Watches | Chicago | Geneva Seal Fine Jewelry & Timepieces

Geneva Seal Fine Jewelry & Timepieces in Chicago introduces the newest addition to our URWERK family: The UR-1001 “TITAN” is the craziest, most complex, most desirable, most high tech, most futuristic... in short, it's the most bad-ass of all URWERK’s creations. It's an assertive titanium Zeit Device indicating seconds, minutes, hours, day, date, month, years, centuries and even millennia, all in a thoroughly original and innovative way.

What’s more, URWERK have provided the UR-1001 with a generously sized strap for wearing on the wrist. The UR-1001 “TITAN” is URWERK distilled to its pure essence.

Watch Battle: Hublot "Spirit of BIG BANG" vs Hublot "BIG BANG"

Geneva Seal Fine Jewelry & Timepieces in Chicago is raining new watches and new movements from the fastest growing watch brand Hublot. The "Spirit of BIG BANG" indeed embodies the spirit of Hublot's "BIG BANG" watch. It features the BIG BANG codes with its 6 H-shaped titanium screws through the watch bezel, the lugs on either side, the two strap attachments, Hublot's famous hands and the SuperLuminova-filled baton indices offering superb legibility, and the overmoulded rubber screw-down crown with the iconic letter H adorning its profile.

Here we find Hublot's pure DNA, but in a different form. The "Spirit of BIG BANG" has a beating heart that is different than the "BIG BANG" with the Hublot HUB4700 movement, redesigned through close collaboration between Hublot and Zénith teams; based on a Zénith El Primero chronograph "chassis" with date (frequency 5 Hz, 36,000 beats per hour, 278 components, 31 jewels), this movement has historically been regarded by purists as one of the best Swiss chronographs ever developed.

Which Victoria's Secret Angel Has a Husband Who's Addicted to Vintage Rolex Watches?

The Angels descended upon London Town and will be gracing the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show runway tonight, which will air on CBS on Dec 9. The annual fashion show is, where the wings are more angelic than one could imagine, the bras are jeweled to perfection, and the sky high gladiator boots are stairways to heaven.

The super human, or rather, super model beauty Behati Prinsloo will be opening the show for the first time this year. Not only is she one of the sexiest women alive, but she's married to People magazine's Sexiest Man Alive. Does it get sexier than that? Well, it does.

Behati's three time Grammy winning husband, Adam Levine, is a die-hard vintage Rolex fanatic. At Geneva Seal in Chicago, there isn't anything sexier than a man with exceptional taste when it comes to his watch game.

Adam is wearing a vintage Rolex GMT Master on a Jubilee Bracelet.

In the next photo Adam is wearing a vintage Rolex Submariner with a patina.

Adam performing for the Beach Boys 50th anniversary, wearing a stainless steel Paul Newman Rolex Daytona with a red, white and black exotic dial.

In the photo below Adam is rocking a reverse Paul Newman Daytona. If you look closely, you will notice the dial is identical to the one pictured above, but the colors are reversed.

BIG NEWS: HYT Won the "Favourite Men's Watch" Award

Geneva Seal's exclusive luxury watch brand HYT (Hydro-Mechanical Horologists) won the "Favourite Men's Watch" award at this years grandest luxury timepiece and jewellery showcase in Asia, A Journey Through Time. Celebrating it's eighth edition, the annual showcase has become iconic worldwide for bringing together the biggest and most prominent names in the watch and jewellery industry.

The HYT H1 Dracula DLC took home the prestigious "Favourite Men's Watch" award and we couldn't be more proud. According to watch enthusiast Brice Goulard,

"The HYT H1 Dracula is inspired by the most famous vampire of the classical literature, the Count Dracula. To fulfill the spirit of this novel written by Bram Stoker and the Gothic atmosphere that it shows, HYT has chosen a full-black DLC coating on the case, enliven by several bloody-red accents. The fluid also shares that same colour, identical to the HYT H1 Red2. The dial uses that same monochromatic idea with a dark grey finish."

Once again, HYT presents a revolutionary watch. By pushing engineering to new heights and creating a design that generates genuine emotions, HYT is evolving in the upper luxury market. Mixing mechanics and liquid within a wristwatch was a dream - or a nightmare - until the unveiling of HYT timepieces. Geneva Seal couldn't be more thrilled about our very own HYT H1 Dracula winning the "Favourite Men's Watch award. Now, a little more about the watch,

"The bloody-red accents can be found on the second-wheel, the power-reserve indicator and the crown. The strap features a very cool black alligator leather with red veins. The movement is now coated in black too instead of a rhodium plated treatment on the other editions. We also note a little evolution of the central dial that shows the minutes, with bigger indexes, always coated with luminescent material. We can expect a better night-time legibility," explains Brice.

Congratulations to all of this years winners, we can't wait until next year.

Jennifer Lopez's Booty May Have Stolen the Show at the AMAs, but We Were Fooled by the Rocks That She Got

Everyone's talking Jennifer Lopez and Iggy Azalea booty and we're over here like, did you see the diamond rings on Jennifer Lopez's sexy fingers at the American Music Awards last night? The mind blowing diamond ring sparklers should've had their own red carpet moment.

Lopez stunned in Norman Silverman gorgeous diamond studs and large diamond rings while flaunting her perfect figure. We're all about the fine jewelry at these award shows and Lopez definitely gave us something to awe about.

Lopez's diamond rings were almost our favorite when it came to the fine jewelry, but then, at the end of the night came the final presenter who we missed on the red carpet. The always flawless Kate Beckinsale was a vision in classic white.

But it was her dazzling Bulgari Serpenti necklace that sent us over the edge. The diamond encrusted necklace made the biggest statement of the night. The fierceness of her neck piece was everything.

Two of our youngest favorites had a sultry yet elegant vibe. Kiley Jenner showed off her sexy leg in her Alexandre Vauthier dress. The 17-year-old added pointed cage heels, gold accessories, and the most darling mini purse to complete her silky blood red look.

Selena Gomez was completely classy in an Armani Privé gown with an open back. Plus, she added a dash of dazzle with gold cuffs and statement earrings.
