Find out more about Hublot watches with our guide.

Hublot Watches & The Art of Fusion

More than 40 years ago, in 1980, Hublot started a revolution in watches. It became the first luxury watchmaker to combine gold and rubber in the same timepiece. That was unheard of at the time. Since then, Hublot has imbued three main tenets into each of its luxury timepieces as a top Swiss watchmaker:

  • Materials
  • Movements
  • Manufacture

All three of these blend to make a unique, innovative watch design.

Hublot Watches: Materials

Without the right materials, craftsmanship is meaningless. See the list of materials here:

  • Magic gold is the watchmaker’s proprietary scratch-proof 18K gold with a deep color. It’s the first scratch-proof gold ever made.
  • Ceramic, which can be made into limitless colors, creates a watch that is nearly indestructible – there’s a reason why ceramic brakes are used in high-performance cars. There’s a reason why ceramic should be in your luxury timepiece.
  • Sapphire glass is one of the hardest materials known to mankind. It’s transparent, scratch-proof, and nearly indestructible because it is made of pure aluminum oxide. However, we can add colors to it for a shimmering sparkle you won’t find anywhere else.

Hublot Watches: Movements

Hublot has created a range of unique in-house movements with modern takes on Swiss watchmaking.

  • Unico has 354 components and has a power reserve of 72 hours.
  • Meca-10 offers a 10-day power reserve with 223 components.
  • The Automatic Tourbillon is the next generation of the tourbillon developed decades ago. It has 243 components and a power reserve of three days.
  • The MP-11 is unrivaled with 270 components but seven in-line barrels and a whopping 14-day power reserve with no equal.

Hublot Watches: Manufacture

The Hublot factory blends tradition with innovation on the outskirts of Geneva near the French border in eastern Switzerland. Much like the country itself, Hublot watches look to the future while honoring the past. Hublot is more than just watchmaking. Its manufacturing combines aspects of geology, physics, engineering, and chemistry with experts under the same roof that create some of the world’s most prestigious timepieces.
