In November 2016, Armin Strom unveiled the Mirrored Force Resonance, a groundbreaking dual-resonance regulator developed for maximum chronometric precision. Resonance watches always feature two balance wheels that regulate one another to stabilize the oscillation rate. While achieving a resonance state in a mechanical watch had been accomplished before, maintaining it consistently remained a challenge—one that had even eluded legendary watchmakers like Abraham-Louis Breguet. The difficulty was compounded by the natural unpredictability of wrist motion and external shocks.
Inspired by the resonance experiments of Christiaan Huygens, Armin Strom developed a solution that overcame these challenges, ensuring stability even on the wrist. By successfully maintaining the resonance phenomenon in a stable state, the Mirrored Force Resonance set a new standard for chronometric precision in a mechanical wristwatch.
